Birthday Shopping

Yesterday, we went shopping for Locke's birthday gifts. We didn't really know what we were looking for but we thought we would hit some toy stores......Well there really aren't any toy stores except for KB Toys and it is so overpriced it's insane. I mean like 3-4 times as much as in the states. So we went wondering around in Tumon....Clint found some nice shirts for work...other than that no presents. Finally, we went to everyones favorite....Ross. I actually said a little prayer before we went in that we would find something. We did! We hit the jackpot actually. Toy cars, books, and even a batman tank top with matching shorts! And I found cake pans and things to go on his cake....Still not sure what kind of cake I am going to make him yet.....Sweet potato......no not really that's just his favorite food.

Today we are going to watch church, workout, and hit our favorite beach Ritidian. Lots to do next week. Going to start packing and figuring out what to take home with us. Anyone have any suggestions(other than Benadryl, which we will be using) for a 21 hour flight with a one year old? Getting nervous about it!
Last weekend Clint's IPhone was captured by the wind and fell into the pool. Soooo its a gonner. Clint said you can't open Iphones that's why you take them to the Genius bar or whatever that Apple scam is called......So I walk into the kitchen to take a pic of his phone so I can put it on ebay to sell the parts and what had he done? Somehow broke it into 2 parts on his own....Hope I can still get some money for the parts.

a different part of the island

We went to the other side of the island on Saturday. It was amazing. I didn't even know that part of Guam existed. It was beautiful! Mountains, green jungle, and more beautiful beaches. It was alot like Bora Bora. Small little villages, quite, and very very different than where we live. We live in the main city Hagatna. There are malls, restaurants, and a downtown. where we went you are lucky to find a small grocery store. I actually love the remoteness. If I were going to live in Guam I would build a house in one of the small villages in between the jungle and beach.

Anyways, we took this scenic way around the island to get to a random Restaurant in the middle of nowhere. It was actually really good food and a pretty neat little place. It had a great porch right on the beach. we had a great time. The best part was you got free frozen yogurt after your meal! yum!
we went and saw Inception. We really liked it. Nice to see a movie that makes you have to think "what is going on" instead of the same boring story over and over again. I love Leo.

one month til we are home for a visit

Locke and I will be visiting OK Aug 14th-sept4th for Annie's wedding and Locke's 1st bday! Clint is staying home and working so he can save up some vacation time to go exploring around this part of the world while we are here. We really want to go to Australia, Thailand, Bali, Fiji, and Japan(sking). Anyways, hope we get to see as many of you guys as we can while we are home. Locke has grown alot in the past 3 months!

Not a whole lot going on the past week. We went to look for Crocs for Locke at the mall. Instead of finding some we witnessed the largest line for Cinnabon I have ever seen. There were at least 20 people in line the whole 2 hours we were at the mall. It was crazy. They smelled good but I would never wait in line for an hour for one....

My poor baby Carver isn't doing well. He is in Cushing living on the land. Well living in the laundry room now. His heart is really bad and we don't know how much longer he is going to make it. I hope I get to see him when i get home. I miss him so much. I wish he could be here with us. I know he would like the beach. Kama has been taking good care of him. His poor heart is just getting weaker. say a little prayer for him.

We are going to join our neighbors for lunch up on the south part of the island at place called Pirates Cove. It's supposed to be pretty cool. I will take pics and let you know.

Skin of a hotdog

I was at the gym a couple of days ago and this women approached me and asked if i would like to train with her for the IFC that is in 11 weeks. (International Form Competition....aka body building). This first thing that I thought of for some reason was the Always Sunny episode where they are watching Hulk Hogan and describe him as"Bleached blond hair but yet silken like that of a Chinese man and has skin of a hot dog". My immediate response was no....NO but thanks for asking. I could never be that dedicated and nor want to look like that.

Clint and I went on a date that evening to the Mermaid which is a greek restaurant/pub. It's no brickstore but it's really nice and they make some pretty nice beers. They have one that is pomegranate flavored...normally I would not go for fruit in the name of my beer but it was really good...Clint even like it. Anyways, its a nice little hangout with live music on the weekends.

yesterday i came home from working out and Clint and Locke were in the bedroom tearing up a magazine. Locke loves some paper and we normally keep it away from him but he and daddy decided to have some fun with it.

Clint cooked some babyback ribs on the grill for dinner. They were great. we ate them outside while we watched some 21 year olds play on a slip and slide. We saw some of the greatest tattoos I have EVER seen. I truly don't know what people are thinking sometimes with the decision of tattoos they choose. for example, tall, white, skinny eminim looking dude with .....not kidding "Chug Life" across his stomach....I really have no words. Anyways it made for some great people watching.

Guam IDs

We went and got our Guam IDs. They are actually pretty nice. They look more authentic than my old OK one. We went to the DMV which is a large warehouse with little roped off areas for different things. we had to wait in line for the paper work, then a different line to pay, and then a different line for the actual pic. It actually went allot faster than i thought.

The next morning there was a speed trap on our way to take Clint to work. by speed trap I mean an officer with a whistle that jumps out in the road and holds out his had and tells you to pull over...no joke. Clint got pulled or whistled over. He got a warning thank goodness he got his Guam id or he probably wouldn't have been so lucky.

4th of July was a nice time. We lounged around on the beach. We took a walk to the grocery store which is about a 1.5 miles away. Locke was in the baby jogger so he was cool. The way there was fine but the walk back was little harder. Clint bought a carton of beverages and asked the people at the store if he could just borrow the plastic container to carry them in and he would bring it back the next day. The lady said "sure I know your wife and baby. He is the one who likes to chew on the boxes". So Clint and i traded of carrying that all the way back. it was a good workout and both of our arms hurt the next day.

We are going on a tour of the island on Saturday with the neighbors and some of there friends. It should be fun. we have a baby backpack to throw Locke in. We will see how long that last. He is all about walking. we got him some little sandals to learn to walk in shoes. he is getting better everyday.

Well got to get the chicken in the oven. Going to have roasted chicken, potatos, and fresh green beans(4.99/lb....ouch! I'm use to .99/lb) for dinner. Oh and some homemade bread(its cheaper for me to make our bread than to buy bread here. no joke. 4 bucks for a loaf of bread....white bread. if you want wheat its like 5.99)

Happy 50th birthday to my dad July 8th! Hope you have a happy birthday.

Full moon party

My wonderful neighbor Cat asked Clint and I to come to a full moon party on the beach last Thursday night. I guess once a month on the full moon everyone has beach parties and cookouts...so we called Yumi(#1 babysitter other than Grandmas) and went.

It was a nice little gathering. They built a fire and we watched the ellipse( No, not the pre-teen movie that tricked me last time into seeing it cause the preview looked good. An actual eclipse). it was a lot of fun. Cant wait til next month. I don't dive yet but people also go night diving as part of the festivities. I think that sounds like my worst nightmare. underwater....creatures....in the dark....no thanks! ill just stand by the fire.

I don't think I have talked about our awesome caretakers of the condo. Abell and Mr. brown. They are so amazing. I mean these guys are the hardest workers. they are always working hard and making the condo better. Abell is an older Asian man and is always super smiley and Mr Brown is local and and probably in his late 30's. They always bring my package up to me when i get something in the mail. Clint doesn't like the mop i bought so he will go down and borrow there mop to clean the balcony. yesterday Abell put a mop on our floor in a closet so Clint didn't have to come down and steal his anymore. So nice. i made him some brownies today and need to take them down to him.
Locke's hair is as long as his papas now!

Weekend plans....Clint has Sunday and Monday off so we are going to cookout on the beach and watch some fireworks. well got to go to the market and grab some fish. Friday is "Fish Friday".
